Like general food & beverage, imported wine must accept commodity inspection first before going through customs. If failing to pass commodity inspection, imported wine will be returned. The commodity inspection content includes: packing, Chinese registered trademark, review of documents -sanity certificate issued by exporting country, certificate of origin, and quality certificate and so on. If the wine is packed by wooden pallets, the suffocation certificate is a must. Next comes the sampling check that aims to check if the wine meets the sanitary standard of imported food. The surplus samples will be kept. After commodity inspection, the importer or his agent shall report and pay tax to the customs office where the imports are declared. The procedures have no difference from other imported goods. Some persuading materials must be submitted to prove the truth of the declared value so as to pass through the price checks conducted by the customs. If the customs does not trust the declared value and execute customs pricing, the importer will bear a big loss as the customs pricing is much higher than the declared value.
